Breaking: Buhari appoints Atteh Acting Comptroller General of Customs

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr. John Atteh as Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).


Atteh who takes over from Dikko Abdulahi was until his appointment a Deputy Comptroller General,  Finance Administration & Technical Service (FATS).

He hails from Eniwari community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
 
However, his appointment is pending the appointment of a substantive CG by the President. Atteh is the most senior serving Deputy Comptroller General.

Other senior Customs officers in the ranks of DCG and Assistants Comptroller-General (ACG) are seriously lobbying to succeed Dikko with the DCG Tariff and Trade, Adewuyi Akinade and DCG, Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection, Musa Tahir said to be enjoying the backing of some powerful politicians from the South West and North East respectively.
