Acting Vice Chancellor of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Professor Rosemund Green-Osahogulu, has called on students to study hard and deservingly obtain high flying credentials which would enable them make meaningful contributions to national development.
Prof. Green-Osahogulu stated this at the university’s 2010/2011 Matriculation Ceremony on Thursday, June 2, 2011 where 1,350 new students were admitted for the 2010/2011 Academic Session.

The Vice Chancellor noted that the new dawn in the country needs critical intellectual input to ensure progress in different sectors of the national life and students of tertiary institutions, pointing out that the university is being repositioned to positively impact the human capital development efforts of the Rivers State government.

She enjoined them to eschew “despicable criminal manifestations as stealing, lesbianism, homosexualism, alcoholism, drug abuse, indecent dressing and every other dishonourable act,” emphasizing that “this university is determined to enforce the highest acceptable moral and ethical standards obtainable in civilized societies worldwide”.
Prof. Green-Osahogulu stated that “individuals or groups choosing to constitute an intolerable nuisance ad security risk to the university community would be handed over to the law enforcement agencies,” advising them to resist all persuasions or intimidations capable of putting them on collision with constituted authority within or outside the campus”.

Earlier, the university’s Choir and Orchestra performed to the delight of the audience with inspiring renditions of both classical and contemporary Christian songs.
