Form Cooperatives to benefit from RSG Empowerment Programmes – Rivers Dep Gov

Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has enjoined women in the state to organize themselves into co-operatives to benefit from the empowerment programmes of the State Government.
Dr. Banigo stated this on Thursday when Rivers Daughters, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), paid her a courtesy visit in Government House, Port Harcourt.

The Deputy Governor assured that the Governor Wike-led administration would support women groups whose activities are in line with the vision of the present administration.

She noted that some of the objectives of the Women were captured in the policy frame work of the present administration that would improve the standard of living of Rivers People.

According to her, “the New Rivers Vision would alleviate poverty, create jobs for the unemployed, empower women and youths as well as ensure that peace and progress returns to the state.”

She commended Rivers Women for their support and contributions towards the development of the state, particularly for galvanising stakeholders at the grassroot in the promotion of peace, and the rights of women and children.

The Deputy Governor assured them of the commitment of the State Government to partner organisations and thanked them for their initiative in forming cooperatives towards achieving set objectives.

“Be assured of our support. We want to assure you that our Governor is a listening leader responsible and as you have trusted us, we will never disappoint you.” Dr. Banigo Stated.

Earlier, National President of Rivers Daughters, Dr. Patricia Ogbonnaya, congratulated the Deputy Governor on their victory at the April polls, noting that her elevation as the first female Deputy Governor in Rivers State was an encouragement and liberation for all women in the state.

The woman leader assured the government of their unalloyed support and prayed God to grant the present administration wisdom to pilot the affairs of the state.
