Nigerian Artistes dominate MAMA 205 Awards

Nigeria took centre stage, dominating this year’s MTV Africa Music Awards, MAMA, carting away most of the coveted trophies.

Topping the chart was Davido, who retained the Africa’s Best Male Artiste of the year he won last year. The Aye crooner beat his South African counterpart, AKA, Diamond from Tanzania, Ghanaian Sarkodie and Wizkid to clinch the trophy.
 
Receiving his award, Davido declares that he is a double champion. “I have won it for the second time, having been a winner last year,” he said. 
 
Other Nigerian singers that won awards include, songstress, Yemi Alade who emerged the Best Female Act of the year, beating Seyi Shay, South Africa’s Bucie and Busiswa as well as Vanessa from Tanzania to lift the trophy. 
 
Enigmatic twins, Peter and Paul Okoye, AKA, P-Square took home the Best Group in Africa and Artiste of the decade, while D’banj won MAMA Evolution award. Mavin Records’ Dorobucci emerged the Best Song of the Year.
